Project Description:

Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc. provided all interior design, architectural and engineering services for a new 65,000-square-foot Fitness and Wellness Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Fitness and Wellness Center is part of Wellness Plaza, which is a 12-story 585,000-square-foot building developed by the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO). The New Brunswick Fitness and Wellness Center is a joint venture between Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Fitness and Wellness Professional Services (F&WPS). F&WPS partners with hospitals to provide full-service fitness and wellness services for the advancement of the community's health and well-being. Jarmel Kizel provided all architectural and engineering services associated with schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration for the development of this project. The first floor of the Fitness and Wellness Center is approximately 15,000 square feet and will include swimming pools and locker rooms, while the second floor will be approximately 48,000 square feet and include lockers, business offices, a large cardio workout area, studios for group fitness, childcare, physical and occupational therapy rooms, a medical spa, a café and community education. In addition to the Fitness and Wellness Center, the facility will include a 49,000-square-foot grocery store, The Fresh Grocer, within the plaza. The project boasts approximately 1,200 parking spaces and a pedestrian bridge providing access to the New Brunswick train station platform.
