JARMEL KIZEL APPOINTED FOR
NEW BRUNSWICK REDEVELOPMENT BY AST DEVELOPMENT
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ, AUGUST 15, 2005 —Jarmel Kizel Architects & Engineers,
Inc., has been appointed to provide architectural and engineering design
services for two mixed-use towers and parking garage on French and Somerset
Streets in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The developer is AST Development.
“This exciting assignment reflects our continued growth in the residential /
mixed use sector. Taking part in the urban revitalization program for the
city of New Brunswick is a very important undertaking for our firm and
continues our State’s push for more rebuilding in our urban markets. This
redevelopment will make a statement for the city while simultaneously
delivering much needed new housing to the city’s residents,” stated Matthew
B. Jarmel, AIA, principal of Jarmel Kizel.
The two mixed-use towers will include 100 units with residential
condominiums, retail space on the ground floors and approximately 60,000
square feet of Class A office space. The parking garage, which is
conveniently located between the two towers, will feature over 850 vehicle
spaces. Jarmel Kizel is lead architect for the project providing design
direction to the team which includes Tim Haas Associates on the parking
garage and Yezzi Associates on the Somerset Street tower. Jarmel Kizel is
the architect for the French Street tower and engineer for both towers.
Jarmel Kizel has a long standing relationship working with AST Development.
They recently completed the design of 100,000 square feet of office space,
an 11,000 square foot retail building, 14,000 square feet of professional
retail space and a 300 car parking garage in Plainfield, New Jersey. Jarmel
Kizel designed a neo-classical look for the project featuring precast
concrete panels colored to match existing contextual make up of the historic
neighborhood. Jarmel Kizel was also responsible for the interior fit-up of
all structures which include state and county offices and retail tenants.
